Hanoi: Proactively ensure safety during storm season on the Red River

On the afternoon of July 20, the joint forces of Hanoi City Police and Hong Ha Ward inspected and surveyed the Red River, and encouraged people and businesses to proactively respond to storm No. 3.

Faced with the complicated developments of storm No. 3 (WIPHA) which is forecast to be of strong intensity, the interdisciplinary force of Hanoi City Police, including Waterway Traffic Police Team No. 2 (Traffic Police Department), Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Department, in coordination with the People's Committee - Hong Ha Ward Police, organized an interdisciplinary working group to inspect and survey the actual Red River section from Vinh Tuy Bridge to Nhat Tan Bridge.

The delegation inspected and surveyed passenger terminals, floating houses, moored watercraft, riverside structures and areas at risk of being unsafe during storms. Through the inspection, the authorities reminded businesses and households that have unsafe moorings, unsafe electrical systems, warehouses near the riverbank, and trees at risk of falling.

Chairman of Hong Ha Ward People's Committee Le Hong Thang said that the ward People's Committee has activated a natural disaster prevention and control plan; assigned forces to be on duty 24/7, regularly checking vulnerable points, and not being passive when the storm hits.

Along with the inspection, the delegation organized direct propaganda, distributed leaflets instructing on storm prevention and control measures; mobilized people, wharf owners, and vehicle owners to strictly implement regulations on waterway safety, and proactively develop response plans according to the "4 on-site" motto: on-site command, on-site forces, on-site means, and on-site logistics.

Lieutenant Colonel Phung Quang Hung, Captain of Waterway Traffic Police Team No. 2, said that the Waterway Police force focuses on reviewing, inspecting, and propagating so that organizations and individuals on the route clearly understand their responsibilities in preventing and fighting natural disasters, proactively responding effectively, and minimizing damage.

Storm prevention and control inspection and propaganda activities will continue to be deployed in the coming days, to ensure waterway traffic safety and social order and safety on the Red River during the 2025 storm season.
