Freestyle juggling star Do Kim Phuc is one of the rare Vietnamese fans invited to attend the 2023 Golden Ball award ceremony. Here, the Asian champion witnessed the moment Lionel Messi was honored.
"I can't believe it. Since I was a child, I only watched Ronaldo and Messi receive the Golden Ball on TV. Now I am here in person and sitting a few rows behind the famous players. My feelings are really hard to describe. I have done something that many football fans have certainly dreamed of," Do Kim Phuc shared.
Do Kim Phuc met Haaland and Bellingham at the Ballon d'Or ceremony. Lionel Messi was surrounded by a large team of assistants and bodyguards, so fans - even guests - had difficulty getting close to him.
The 2023 Ballon d'Or award ceremony took place last night in Paris (France) with the participation of the world's top stars. Lionel Messi was honored for the 8th time at the prestigious award, honoring the most outstanding player of the year. Following the Argentine superstar are Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
"The moment everyone in the audience stood up to applaud Messi really moved me. It seemed like everyone had the greatest gratitude for the legend of world football because this could be the last time he receives this award. When Messi received the award, I saw Haaland was a bit sad and then his teammates came to encourage him. Mbappe left quickly," Do Kim Phuc recounted.
The 34-year-old freestyle star made many Vietnamese football fans jealous when he met two of the world's top football superstars. A few months ago, Do Kim Phuc met Cristiano Ronaldo outside the Al Nassr Club training ground and gave the Portuguese striker a special souvenir from Vietnam.
