Hai Phong strives to exceed revenue from import and export activities

(PLVN) - On October 15, Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho held a meeting of the Working Group to urge the fight against loss of export and import tax revenue and collection of infrastructure usage fees at seaport border gates; listened to the report on the collection results for 9 months and deployed tasks for the last 3 months of 2024.

According to the leader of Hai Phong Customs Department, as of September 30, 2024, the State budget revenue of Hai Phong Customs Department reached more than 55,126 billion VND, equal to 82.9% of the target assigned by the Prime Minister , an increase of 7,341 billion VND, equivalent to an increase of 15.4% over the same period in 2023. Of which, Hai Phong area collected more than 48,004 billion VND, equal to 81.64% of the assigned target, equal to 80.95% of the target assigned by the City, an increase of 6,049 billion VND, equivalent to an increase of 14.4% over the same period. Regarding the work of preventing loss of export and import tax, the accumulated revenue in 9 months reached 346 billion VND.

According to the report of the Inland Waterways Port Authority, in the first 9 months of 2024, the result of collecting seaport infrastructure fees reached more than 1,046 billion VND, equivalent to 83.7% of the 2024 revenue estimate, an increase of 147.5 billion VND, equivalent to 16.4% over the same period last year.

Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Duc Tho acknowledged that the Hai Phong Customs Department and the Inland Waterways Port Authority have closely coordinated with relevant departments and branches in the process of implementing the task of collecting import and export taxes, achieving higher results than the same period in 2023.

Regarding the collection of fees for using seaport infrastructure, striving to achieve and exceed the target of 1,300 billion VND, he suggested that units need to make determined efforts to achieve high revenue levels, especially revenue from import and export taxes to strive to receive rewards for exceeding revenue.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested the Hai Phong Customs Department, the Inland Waterways Port Authority and related units to actively coordinate more closely, cross-check, and provide timely information to avoid losses, create favorable conditions for businesses in collecting seaport fees; raise the sense of responsibility of officials and civil servants to serve businesses well, be open, transparent, create equality, and avoid negativity.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee also agreed with the proposal of the Hai Phong Customs Department and the Inland Waterways Port Authority to upgrade equipment and software, aiming to best serve businesses, and assigned the Department of Information and Communications to coordinate the implementation.
