During the 10th Joint Commission Meeting (JCM) in Seoul, South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul and his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar stressed the importance of partnership in the Indo- Pacific region.

At a forum earlier this week, Jaishankar noted South Korea’s Indo- Pacific strategy, which was unveiled under the Yoon Suk Yeol administration in 2022. Jaishankar said the strategy shows the potential for the two countries to work more closely as like-minded nations in common areas, such as building reliable and resilient supply chains. India and South Korea elevated their bilateral relationship to a Special Strategic Partnership when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an official visit to South Korea in May 2015.
