The opening ceremony of the seal originated from the Tran Dynasty, after defeating the Yuan-Mongol invaders, at Thien Truong Palace, King Tran Thai Tong held a celebration party, conferring titles on officers and soldiers who had contributed to fighting the invaders and keeping the country safe. This year, the Tran Temple's opening ceremony organizers estimated that up to 170,000 visitors would attend the ceremony.
On the night of February 23 (ie January 14 of the lunar calendar), at the Tran Temple - Thap Pagoda Historical and Cultural Relic Site (Loc Vuong Ward, Nam Dinh City, Nam Dinh Province), the Tran Temple Seal Opening Ceremony for the Year of the Dragon 2024 took place.
At about 22:45, the procession entered Thien Truong Temple.
The procession of the seal palanquin was solemnly held according to traditional rituals. The seal was carried from Co Trach Temple, where the National Duke, Commander-in-Chief, Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan was worshiped, to Thien Truong Temple, where the tablets of the 14 Tran kings were placed, to hold the Seal opening ceremony.
Outside the temple gate, police forces ensure security and order for the seal opening ceremony to take place as scheduled.
As the night wore on, more and more people and tourists flocked to Tran Temple. Because they were not allowed inside the temple, many people waited outside.
Some people took advantage of the opportunity to sleep and regain their strength, waiting for the time to enter the temple to make offerings and receive blessings.
Before that, from around 6pm, many tourists came to the temple to worship and offer incense.
According to the announcement, the seal distribution ceremony took place at 5:00 a.m. on January 15. However, from 4:50 a.m., the three Giai Vu houses and the Trung Hoa temple exhibition house began distributing the seals.
Accordingly, the organizing committee will serve all needs of the people and tourists, from offering incense, attending ceremonies as well as receiving the jade seal at the beginning of spring until the end of January.
The Tran Temple Relic Management Board has prepared 300,000 copies to distribute to the people.
This year's Tran Temple Seal Opening Festival was organized in a disciplined, solemn, and safe manner, ensuring security and order, civilized lifestyle, promoting the nation's traditional cultural values, and arousing pride in the brilliant Dong A spirit of the Dai Viet army and people who defeated the invading Yuan-Mongol army three times.
