According to the Vietnam Railway Authority, due to the complicated situation of landslides at Chi Thanh tunnel ( Phu Yen ), the time to fix the problem may be prolonged. The Phu Khanh Railway Operation Branch has sent a telegram to relevant units to organize passenger transport by car between La Hai station and Tuy Hoa station.

Accordingly, passengers traveling on passenger trains from Hanoi station and Da Nang station to the South on May 20 and 21 will be transferred by car from La Hai station to Tuy Hoa station.

Previously, at 10:15 a.m. on May 21, at the Chi Thanh railway tunnel, in the La Hai - Chi Thanh section (An Dinh commune, Tay An district, Phu Yen), a serious landslide occurred in the railway tunnel. Immediately after receiving the information.

Vietnam Railway Authority has directed Safety Inspection Department III to coordinate in approaching the scene to collect information, grasp the situation, and overcome the consequences of the incident.

As of 1:30 p.m. the same day, the landslide continued at the above location (the landslide area was 16m long, 40m wide, and 4.9m high) and showed no signs of ending. The landslide did not cause any damage to people or property.

Immediately after the incident occurred, Vietnam Railways Corporation directed railway units in the area to coordinate with functional units and local authorities to overcome the consequences. Currently, the remedial work is being carried out.

According to the Vietnam Railway Authority, the cause of the incident was due to construction at a location with weak and complex soil conditions. The recovery work is still facing many difficulties.
