The leader of the Central Airport Authority said he had reported to the Civil Aviation Authority the incident of a passenger saying "where is the gun" while sitting on a plane.

This person said that the two passengers in the incident face penalties from aviation authorities, including the possibility of being banned from flying for a period of time.

The actions of these two people caused the flight at Da Nang airport scheduled to depart at 7:25 p.m. to temporarily stop taking off and could not depart until 9:50 p.m. to Hanoi .

Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, the leader of Vietnam Airlines flight attendants said that the way the flight attendants handled the situation was part of their training program. When a passenger makes a statement that threatens security and safety, even if they do not speak directly to the flight crew but only vaguely, the flight attendants must verify and report to the captain.

Responding to the opinion that the flight attendant's handling of the situation could cause inconvenience to passengers, this person said that "safety" and "passenger experience" are both top priorities. But in a situation where they have to choose, flight attendants will still prioritize safety. "You can't burn down the whole forest for one tree," he said.

According to the Port Authority, on the evening of November 7 at Da Nang airport, when flight VN186 was about to take off from Da Nang to Hanoi, two passengers on the plane talked to each other about having a gun on the plane. One asked "where is the gun", the other pointed to the bag next to him and said "in here".

When the flight attendant asked again, the two said they were just joking. However, the flight captain requested to stop takeoff, contacted the air traffic control tower and called for security support.

Da Nang airport security forces re-checked all luggage and passengers on the flight but did not detect any weapons.
