According to Neowin , Helldivers 2 , the sequel to the sci-fi third-person shooter series from developer Arrowhead, has been released simultaneously on both PS5 and Steam, marking a rare event in the gaming industry. Just one day after its launch, the game immediately became the most popular PlayStation Studios title on Steam to date.
Helldivers 2 has just been released and is already dominating the Steam charts.
According to SteamDB, Helldivers 2 has reached a peak concurrent player count of 81,840 on Steam. While it's not quite on par with Palworld , it has surpassed God of War , the PlayStation Studios game that previously held the record with 73,529 concurrent players.
As of 2 a.m. on February 10, Helldivers 2 is still holding the top spot in sales on Steam, topping the trending games chart, and has over 74,000 concurrent players. It is possible that this number will continue to increase over the weekend.

However, in addition to its sales and player achievements, Helldivers 2 also encountered some technical problems on its first day of release. PC Gamer reported that many players experienced the game crashing, while others had problems with matchmaking.
Helldivers 2 game director Mikael Eriksson at Arrowhead posted a message on X (formerly Twitter) saying that they have released a patch for the Steam version to fix some of the issues users have been experiencing. He also added that the development team still has a lot of issues to work out and is working to fix them as soon as possible.
