With the message "Humans come in pairs, wild animals come in pairs; stop eating animals, contribute to the good of life", the Biodiversity Conservation Component funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the Sustainable Forest Management and Biodiversity Conservation Project (VFBC) launched a communication campaign calling on all people, local authorities and sectors to act together for wildlife. Miss H'Hen Nie and dancer Quang Dang actively participated in the program.

Mr. Vu Van Hung, Director of VFBC Project, Deputy Head of Forestry Project Management Board, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said: "New Year is an occasion for us to remind each other to live well, in harmony, and responsibly with nature and wildlife to preserve biodiversity values, and together fulfill international commitments on conservation".

"We stand with the Government of Vietnam and People people in joint efforts on conservation of wildlife and natural ecosystems of Vietnam . We encourage everyone become positive factors in the conservation of nature and wildlife through reduce consumption wildlife , " Ms. Annie Wallace, Director of the Climate Change, Energy and Environment Program, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) emphasized.

For many years, Vietnam has been one of the Asian countries that consumes a lot of bushmeat and other wildlife products. The continuous demand for these products has led to a serious decline in the wild populations of wildlife species in Vietnam, including large herbivores and large-antlered muntjacs endemic to the Annamite Mountains.

Survey on wildlife meat consumption by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF-Vietnam) ) A survey conducted in 2021 showed that about 90% of illegally hunted wild animals are consumed through restaurants and bars in urban areas, and the average number of times wild animal meat is consumed is up to 7 times/year/customer.

These important findings require specific and drastic action programs at all levels and sectors. to reduce wildlife consumption. This also requires Adequate investment in resources and communication to raise awareness about nature conservation and biodiversity to prevent and end wildlife trafficking and bushmeat consumption.

In addition, in the coming time, it is necessary to continue implementing solutions to improve the effectiveness of law enforcement on biodiversity, promote the integration and implementation of biodiversity conservation requirements in the process of macro-policy planning and technical projects.

"Those staff working conservation like us always “Efforts to strengthen law enforcement and improve conservation in key project areas are giving wildlife a chance to survive and recover from decades of severe decline. Action to stop the eating of wildlife is urgently needed,” said Nick Cox, Director of the USAID-funded Biodiversity Conservation Component at WWF.

The campaign will be implemented in many provinces such as Quang Nam , Thua Thien Hue, Lam Dong, Quang Tri and Quang Binh from March to May 2024. A series of events will take place with the participation of many students from local universities.

In particular, the campaign features the participation of Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H'Hen Nie and dancer Quang Dang with a creative music video to help spread the message to the public further, on social media platforms.
