Reward students

On November 12, Mr. Le Hong Thai - principal of Phan Van Tri Primary School, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City - wrote an open letter to parents, donors and partners about not accepting flowers and gifts on November 20.

Instead, Mr. Thai wants to replace flowers and gifts with notebooks, milk and sports equipment so that the school can reward the students.

The open letter reads: "Every year, on Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20, the school receives many congratulatory flower baskets. However, these flowers are only used for a few days and then thrown away, which is a waste.

This year, due to the difficult economic situation, through this open letter, the school respectfully requests that instead of giving flowers, donors , businesses and organizations please change the form by giving notebooks, milk and sports equipment so that the school can reward the students.

This November, the school's main activities are the Illustrated Storytelling Contest and Phan Van Tri Challenge 2024. The goal of the activities is to help students develop comprehensively in terms of intelligence, physical strength and aesthetics.

The school hopes to receive support and sharing from sponsors , businesses and organizations to bring practical gifts - directly supporting children in training their mind - body - beauty, encouraging them to confidently participate in useful playgrounds.

Every contribution of yours, big or small, is a source of motivation for us and our students in the journey of developing knowledge and personality."

Educational significance

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , teacher Le Hong Thai said that to celebrate November 20 this year, the school organized many playgrounds such as storytelling illustrated books, sports competitions, painting, decorating conical hats, decorating piggy banks, etc.

The contests were enthusiastically participated in by students, teachers and parents.

"However, the school's budget can only stop at awarding certificates to students. With the thought that the bouquets of flowers sent by units, businesses... will also fade. That is a waste while Phan Van Tri School still has many difficulties.

Therefore, the school wants to convert flowers and gifts on November 20 into milk, notebooks, and sports equipment so that the school can reward students.

This conversion is both meaningful in educating about thrift and encouraging students, contributing to joining hands with the school to build a happy school" - Mr. Thai emphasized.
