Forming a unified vision for development

The 15th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), also known as the Summer Davos Forum, will be held from June 25-27 in Dalian, Liaoning Province, Northeast China, to create a unified vision for development.

Themed “The Next Frontier of Growth,” the 2024 World Economic Forum (WEF) will convene global leaders from various sectors to jointly explore the drivers of innovation and the path to global economic progress, the National Development and Reform Commission said. Through robust dialogue and cooperation, the conference aims to forge a unified vision for development and will also present new opportunities to the international community from China’s modernization journey.

This year’s event in Dalian will bring together some 1,600 leaders from business, government , civil society, international organizations and research institutions to forge partnerships and innovative, impact-driven solutions that can drive global economic recovery. The conference “will provide a timely opportunity to collaborate to foster dynamic innovation potential and pave the way for sustainable economic dynamism in the region and beyond,” said Liming Chen, China President of the World Economic Forum.

Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, said that in the face of unprecedented global challenges, this annual WEF meeting will provide a platform for leaders to come together, share insights and promote innovative solutions that can shape the future of the global economy.

This year's conference will have six main topics to be discussed: The new global economy; China and the world; entrepreneurship in the age of artificial intelligence; new frontiers for industries; investing in people; and connecting climate, nature and energy.

Both Liaoning Province and Dalian City are making every effort to ensure the smooth running of this year's event. The host country will use 5G-Advanced innovative technology, introducing pavilions in Liaoning and Dalian to showcase future digital products and application scenarios, and sharing China's digital achievements. The conference will emphasize and promote green transformation through energy conservation and carbon reduction.

This is the eighth Summer Davos Forum to be held in Dalian since the city first hosted it in 2007. During the annual meeting, China hopes to have in-depth exchanges and cooperation among representatives from all sectors around the world, especially the business community, to encourage more foreign-funded enterprises to actively develop the Chinese market.

The conference held in China stressed that Asia is the engine of global growth and China, as the world's second largest economy, remains the biggest contributor to that growth and plays a very important role in international affairs.
