Coach Hoang Anh Tuan talked about the reason why U.17 Vietnam did not play at their best: "As we predicted before the match, the opening match is always difficult. The players were mentally stressed so they did not play at their best. When U.17 India's physical strength decreased, our players pushed up the squad but unfortunately missed some scoring opportunities. However, in my opinion, the draw result was reasonable, consistent with the developments on the field."
Speaking more about his players' performance, Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan expressed: "Psychological stress caused the players to not play at their best and not be able to execute their tactics well. When they scored a goal, they could not maintain the game and let U.17 India continue to control the ball more."
U.17 Vietnam scored the first goal in the first half but could not maintain the score and had to share points with U.17 India.
Evaluating U.17 India, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan said: "U.17 India went through a preparation journey with many matches, but each match has a different nature. They played well in training but the nature is different from the official match. U.17 Vietnam also played no less".
After the first round, the 4 teams in Group D all had 1 point after the first round with a goal difference of 0. According to coach Hoang Anh Tuan, the opportunity is divided equally among all 4 teams and they have to start over. "The four teams in this group will start over. Each match is different. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan said that the U.17 Vietnam players were mentally stressed and therefore did not play at their full potential.
In the second match of Group D of the 2023 AFC U-17 Championship taking place on June 20, the Vietnam U-17 team will face the defending champion of the tournament, Japan U-17, at 5:00 p.m.
