According to Decision No. 149/QD-CTN signed by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on January 24, 2025, coach Mai Duc Chung was honored to be awarded the title of Hero of Labor for his outstanding achievements in creative labor, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

Coach Mai Duc Chung is a veteran coach with achievements with the Vietnamese women's team winning 8 Gold Medals at the SEA Games (1997, 2003, 2005, 2017, 2019, 2021-2022, 2023), winning the AFF Cup 2019, fourth place at the 2014 ASIAD, fifth place at the 2022 Asian Cup and winning a ticket to the 2023 World Cup.

Previously, coach Mai Duc Chung was also successful with men's football, when he coached the Vietnamese team (as interim manager) through a difficult period and helped Binh Duong club reach the semi-finals of the 2009 AFC Cup.

Sharing about this honor, coach Mai Duc Chung expressed: “This is the most noble and honorable award in my life. This title is an honor for myself and my whole family. I would like to express my gratitude to the Party and State, the authorities, the National Training Center 1 and the Vietnam Football Federation for always caring and creating conditions for me to be able to complete my tasks. I also want to thank the clubs, colleagues in the coaching staff and the players who have always accompanied me on the past journey”.

“This honor will be a motivation for me to continue to strive and contribute to Vietnamese football. My health may not be as good as before, but with everything I have, I always remind myself to be more active, to do my best to achieve more achievements with the team members, worthy of this title,” the head coach of the Vietnamese women's team shared more.

In 2025, Mr. Mai Duc Chung will continue to join the Vietnamese women's team to compete in the 2026 Asian Cup Qualifiers, the Southeast Asian Championship and the 2025 SEA Games.
