Mr. Erick Thohir said that coach Shin Tae-yong needs to bring U23 Indonesia to the quarter-finals of the U23 Asian finals because that is part of the obligation to renew the contract.
" That's the commitment we agreed on. There are clear goals for coach Shin Tae-yong and me. We shouldn't turn that into a debate. There are things that have been agreed upon ," added Erick Thohir.

Mr. Erick Thohir affirmed that the Indonesian Football Federation is satisfied with the work of coach Shin Tae-yong. Previously, the Korean coach completed the target of bringing U23 Indonesia to the quarterfinals of the 2023 Asian Cup. In addition, Mr. Shin helped the national team defeat the Vietnamese team twice, thereby gaining an advantage in the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup.
