Previously, the Pacific barge 05, registration number SG 7442, belonging to Pacific Shipping Services Company Limited, was carrying about 300 tons of column-shaped iron, towed by a tugboat with registration number SG 6177. On the tugboat, there were 3 crew members led by Mr. Tran Van Bup (born in 1982, residing in Long Huu Dong, Can Duoc, Long An ). The ship departed from Nha Trang port to Ho Chi Minh City to deliver the goods. At about 5:00 a.m. on August 8, while passing through Binh Thuan waters, about 4 nautical miles south of Mui Ne coast, it encountered an incident and stopped to fix it. After that, the barge was sunk by big waves and strong winds, with no casualties.
