The Organizing Committee of the Vietnam Golden Ball Awards 2024 announced the shortlist of candidates for the categories: Golden Ball for men, women, futsal, Best Foreign Player and Young Player.
In the Men's Golden Ball category, the shortlist includes 5 players: Nguyen Thanh Chung (Hanoi Club), Nguyen Hoang Duc (The Cong Viettel/Phu Dong Ninh Binh Club), Nguyen Quang Hai (Hanoi Police Club), Pham Tuan Hai (Hanoi Club) and Nguyen Tien Linh (Becamex Binh Duong Club).
Hoang Duc is the current Vietnamese Golden Ball.
Nguyen Xuan Son of Nam Dinh Steel Club, along with teammates Hendrio Araujo and Alan Alexander (Binh Dinh Club/Hanoi Police) will compete in the category of Outstanding Foreign Player.
Nguyen Xuan Son cannot compete for the 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball award because at the time the nomination list was announced, he was still considered a foreign player. Xuan Son became a Vietnamese citizen in October, but it was not until December that he was eligible to play for the Vietnamese national team, due to FIFA regulations.

In the Women's Golden Ball category, the faces in the Top 5 include Nguyen Thi Truc Huong (Vietnam Coal and Minerals Club), Nguyen Thi Tuyet Ngan, Huynh Nhu (HCMC I Club), Tran Thi Thuy Trang (HCMC I Club), Duong Thi Van (Vietnam Coal and Minerals Club).
Meanwhile, in the Futsal Golden Ball category, Thai Son Nam Club, Ho Chi Minh City, dominated with players such as Nguyen Manh Dung, Pham Duc Hoa, Ho Van Y and Pham Van Tu (Thai Son Bac Club).
Meanwhile, four players Nguyen Dinh Bac (Hanoi Police Club), Bui Vi Hao (Becamex Binh Duong Club), Khuat Van Khang (The Cong Viettel Club) and Nguyen Thai Son (Dong A Thanh Hoa Club) compete for the title of Best Young Player of Men's Football.
In the category of Best Young Player of Women's Football, the candidates on the shortlist include Vu Thi Hoa (Phong Phu Ha Nam Club), Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh (HCMC I Club) and Luu Hoang Van (Phong Phu Ha Nam Club).
The 2024 Vietnam Golden Ball Awards ceremony is expected to be held at the end of February 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City.
