On the morning of June 25, continuing the program of the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly, the National Assembly passed the Resolution of the National Assembly on the establishment of the National Election Council.

The Resolution stipulates that the National Election Council consists of 19 members. Specifically, the Chairman of the National Election Council is the Chairman of the National Assembly ; a Vice Chairman of the National Assembly is the Permanent Vice Chairman and Head of the Council's Personnel Subcommittee.

The Vice Chairmen of the National Election Council include: One Deputy Prime Minister; Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Vice President.

Members of the National Election Council include: Head of the Central Organization Committee; Head of the Central Inspection Committee; Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee; Minister of National Defense; Minister of Public Security; one Vice President of the National Assembly and Head of the Subcommittee on Legal Documents and Settlement of Complaints and Denunciations; one Vice President of the National Assembly and Head of the Subcommittee on Information and Propaganda; one Vice President of the National Assembly and Head of the Subcommittee on Ensuring Security, Order and Social Safety; Minister of Home Affairs; Head of the National Assembly Delegation Work Committee; Secretary General of the National Assembly - Head of the National Assembly Office and Head of the National Election Council Office; Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council; Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women's Union; First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.

The National Election Council is responsible for organizing the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly, directing and guiding the election of deputies to People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in accordance with the law and coordinating with the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Government and relevant agencies and organizations to perform assigned tasks.

The National Election Council has its working location at the National Assembly House, Hanoi Capital, has its own seal, operating budget and supporting apparatus.

On the same day, the National Assembly also passed a Resolution on the number of members of the Standing Committee of the 15th National Assembly, including 20 people: Chairman of the National Assembly; 6 Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly; 13 members of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly.

The Resolution takes effect from the date the National Assembly votes to pass it.
