The organic rice production model with product consumption linkage was implemented in the spring crop of 2024 in Lien Thanh commune with a scale of 10 hectares, with 38 households participating, using J02 variety (purebred rice variety imported from Japan). The above area is synchronously applied many technical measures, such as applying mechanization to organic rice cultivation (using tillage machines, transplanters, combine harvesters, drones for fertilizing, spraying pesticides...).
Through the model to evaluate the effectiveness of using organic fertilizers and biological pesticides. Selecting rice varieties that are adapted, resistant to some pests and diseases, giving good yield and quality of rice. Especially, Yen Thanh District Agricultural Service Center cooperates to purchase products for farmers.
Through monitoring and evaluation results, it is shown that organic rice production on 10 hectares in Lien Thanh commune achieved a relatively high yield of 70.4 quintals/ha, the purchase price of fresh rice was 7,700 VND/kg, and the profit was relatively high compared to the current rice production level (reaching 34,545,000 VND/ha). Organic rice production limits the use of pesticides, only using a few types of pesticides of biological origin.
So from the beginning of the season, farmers have weeded by hand, caught snails and mice by hand and used some sweet and sour bait traps to collect golden apple snails in the fields. At the same time, regulating the alternating flooding and drying, contributing to reducing environmental pollution.
This is an effective rice intensive farming model, suitable for the level and needs of farmers and the development trend of production, contributing towards building a clean and sustainable ecological agriculture.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Trong Huong - Director of Yen Thanh District Agricultural Service Center said: Yen Thanh District is moving towards green and clean agriculture, so organic rice production is one of the solutions to achieve this trend. In the long term, Yen Thanh District will expand the area of organic rice production, and in the immediate future, Yen Thanh District Agricultural Service Center will purchase all products for people in the district.
Another advantage when implementing this model is that right in Yen Thanh district, there is a rice processing factory of TH Group , with modern technology lines. The amount of organically produced rice purchased is processed here to produce quality products, shiny, even, beautiful rice grains to sell to markets across the country. Moving towards participating in the export market, thereby increasing the value of organic rice and increasing sustainable income for farmers.
