On July 14, at the press conference of Hai Phong City Party Committee, Mr. Le Trung Kien - Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board - said that the 3rd meeting of APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC 3) was held in Hai Phong from July 15-18.
The meeting gathered about 1,200 delegates, including about 250 international delegates, including ABAC members from 21 APEC economies, leaders of national corporations, financial institutions, research and innovation centers and international organizations. In particular, the event had the participation of many Ambassadors from the world's leading economies such as the US, Germany, Korea, Japan, Singapore... carrying an important message, showing support at the national level and being a guarantee of prestige, strengthening the confidence of investors.
During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Quang Phuc - Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of Hai Phong City Party Committee - affirmed that this is a great opportunity for Hai Phong to promote its investment environment, economic potential and policies to encourage business investment to APEC economies.
The event also creates opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises and Hai Phong city to meet directly with international investors, establish long-term partnerships, promote investment in key and priority areas; introduce products, typical economic models and services; introduce cultural heritages, tourism and scenic spots, and promote international tourist attraction.
The highlight of the ABAC 3 sideline activity is the Hai Phong City Investment Promotion Conference 2025 with the theme “Hai Phong - Strategic Destination of the New Era”.
According to Mr. Le Trung Kien, with the merger of Hai Duong, the new Hai Phong City has more space and potential from natural area, population size to infrastructure of industrial parks, technical traffic infrastructure, etc.
It is expected that Hai Phong City will grant investment certificates and sign memorandums of understanding for 32 investment projects and 7 memorandums of understanding for cooperation with a total committed capital of more than 15 billion USD.
Many investors have developed infrastructure in Tan Trao, Ngu Phuc, Thuy Nguyen, Tran Duong - Hoa Binh industrial parks, Tien Lang airport, Hoang Dieu Kim Thanh 2 and urban projects in industrial parks with a total investment of more than 10 billion USD. Thereby, contributing to the formation of modern, high-tech industrial complexes, creating tens of thousands of jobs, expanding industrial space, promoting urbanization and socio-economic development.
The investment project for berths 9, 10, 11, and 12 of Lach Huyen port with an investment capital of nearly 1 billion USD helps improve customs clearance capacity, affirming its position as the leading logistics center in the region.
“The conference marks a strategic turning point in the process of deep integration and attracting high-quality capital flows. This is an opportunity for Hai Phong to affirm its organizational capacity, development vision and aspiration to become a dynamic economic center of the region, creating a foundation for a breakthrough period after the merger,” said Mr. Le Trung Kien.
