More than 200 images and artifacts are displayed at the exhibition 'Cultural heritage of Vietnam's seas and islands'

On the evening of August 27, in Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province, the exhibition "Cultural heritage of Vietnam's seas and islands" officially opened.

This is an activity within the framework of the National Tourism Year 2023 with the theme "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence", organized by the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in coordination with the People's Committees of the following provinces and cities: Hai Phong, Bac Giang, Vinh Phuc, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Kien Giang, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh , Soc Trang, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau and Binh Thuan.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong, Director of the Vietnam Cultural and Art Exhibition Center, emphasized that Vietnam's sea and island cultural heritage is the crystallization of the wisdom and tradition of solidarity of the coastal ethnic communities from the past to the present. Having gone through many historical events, despite being lost and destroyed by war and harsh natural conditions, this treasure of cultural heritage is still extremely massive, unique and precious.

Vietnam has over 3,200 km of coastline and about 1 million km2 of exclusive economic zone, stretching from Mong Cai, Quang Ninh to Ha Tien, Kien Giang ; there are over 40 bays, 2,773 coastal islands and 2 archipelagos of Truong Sa and Hoang Sa. In particular, the coastal area converges many world cultural and natural heritages such as: Ha Long Bay, Trang An Scenic Landscape, Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park, Hue Monuments Complex, Hoi An Ancient Town, world-famous biosphere reserves, national parks, caves, beautiful beaches and many unique traditional festivals. All of these conditions create great potential for the development of cultural tourism of Vietnam's sea and islands, contributing to the cultural identity of Vietnam.

The exhibition is a cultural event to introduce and honor the unique cultural and tourism values of the sea and islands to the people and international friends; continue to raise awareness, national pride, and community responsibility in the management, conservation, and promotion of historical values, resources, and cultural environment, sea and island tourism, contributing to the sustainable development of the country as well as the protection of the sovereignty of the homeland's sea and islands.

Lasting from August 27 to September 2, the exhibition featured many rich, exciting and impressive activities. The highlight was the exhibition of more than 200 photos with the main theme "Cultural heritage of Vietnam's seas and islands", focusing on introducing relics, ancient maps, Han Nom documents about Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos and Nguyen Dynasty records with content about Vietnam's sea and island sovereignty; the attention of President Ho Chi Minh, the Party and the State to the cause of building and firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland...

In addition, the exhibition also has a space to display and promote the cultural and tourism potential of the sea and islands of 22 provinces and cities across the country. Here, localities introduce unique features of culture, tourism, festivals, scenic spots, marine products, and traditional handicrafts typical of each locality. In addition, within the framework of the exhibition, there are also performances and cultural and artistic exchanges that deeply depict the spiritual and cultural values of coastal communities along the length of the country.
