In preparation for the most prestigious youth tournament on the planet, which will take place in Qatar in November 2025, Indonesia U17 is taking ambitious steps. Recently, head coach Nova Arianto announced the list of 34 players called up for the training session scheduled to take place from July 7 to 10.

The most special thing in this list is the appearance of 9 completely new foreign-born young talents, currently being trained at football academies in Europe.

This is part of the long-term strategy of the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) to strengthen the national teams at all levels.

Speaking about this decision, coach Nova Arianto told Bola : "They are all new 'Indonesian-born' players. I want to consider all the potential of these players, before deciding on the official squad to participate in the U17 World Cup finals."

In addition to preparing for the World Cup, Indonesian youth football also received another good news. The country's U17 team will be granted a special entry into the 2026 AFC U17 Championship finals without having to participate in the qualifying round.

Along with Indonesia, eight other teams have also secured their places, namely Uzbekistan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, North Korea, Tajikistan, Japan and Qatar (as hosts of the 2025 U17 World Cup).

The call-up of a series of European players and their special admission to the continental tournament shows Indonesia's great investment and ambition in raising the level of youth football, aiming to create a generation capable of competing in international arenas.

Feike Muller Latupeirissa (16 years old, Willem II Tilburg Club, Netherlands): Center back. He is Indonesian.
