Reuters on October 28 quoted Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei as saying that the country would use all available tools to respond to Israel's attack.

The nature of the response would depend on the nature of the Israeli attack, he said, without giving details.

On the same day, Major General Hossein Salami, commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said Israel's attack on Iranian territory showed Israel's desperation.

He declared that such an attack would have “unimaginably bitter consequences” for Israel, according to Tasnim news agency.

Earlier on October 27, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced that he would retaliate against Israel. "We do not seek war, but we will defend the rights of our people and our nation, and we will give an appropriate response to the Zionist actions," IRNA quoted him as emphasizing.

Israel launched airstrikes on Iran on the morning of October 26 in response to Tehran launching about 200 missiles at Israel on the evening of October 1. The Jerusalem Post reported that the attack involved more than 100 Israeli aircraft, although Iran said this information was inaccurate.

Israel has not released details of the damage caused in the attack on Iran, while Tehran said the Israeli military only caused limited damage. IRNA reported on October 26 that at least four Iranian soldiers, all working for the air defense force, were killed in the attack.

In a related development, Iraqi government spokesman Basim Alawdi on October 28 accused the Israeli military of violating airspace while conducting an attack on Iran.

In the statement, he said Iraq had sent a letter of protest to the United Nations, condemning the invasion.

"The Iraqi government reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Iraq. The government will not allow Iraqi airspace or land to be used to attack other countries, especially neighboring countries with which Iraq shares mutual respect and interests," the statement said.

Israel did not immediately comment on the information.
