At the initiative of the Israeli Embassy in Ukraine and the Israeli Foreign Ministry's Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV), the country purchased hundreds of liters of drinking water and 10 tons of food in the localities of the Eastern European country and distributed them to people affected by the Kakovka dam collapse in the Kherson region.
Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen, who is directly involved in the plan, said that the Middle Eastern country will continue to help Ukraine and its people because it is a noble moral value.
In another development on the same day, according to Israeli media, a senior official said that the country has informed the US of plans to build thousands of new settlement apartments by the end of June.
However, it is still uncertain whether the plan will be approved as usual as meetings will likely need to last for weeks to consider each specific settlement.
Previously, the US pressured Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to postpone plans to build the E1 settlement on the abandoned airport grounds in Jerusalem.
If this project is implemented, Israel will officially cut off East Jerusalem from the Palestinian territories in the West Bank. Therefore, this settlement expansion program is considered a major obstacle to the prospect of reconciliation between the Israelis and Palestinians.
