On August 4, Mr. Chau Van Hoa - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and the working delegation came to survey the actual landslide situation in Quoi Thien commune.

According to the People's Committee of Quoi Thien commune, due to the influence of high tides accompanied by big waves and heavy rain, subsidence and landslides of dikes and dam surfaces in the area have occurred continuously in recent times.

Currently, 5 hamlets of the commune have 11 sections of dykes and culverts that have been eroded and damaged with a total length of nearly 260m. In addition, in the commune, there is a section of dyke that has been eroded at Co Chien route (the area from Mr. Bach Van Thang's household to Mr. Le Van Dien's household, Rach Sau hamlet) with a length of about 100m, 6-8m deep into the mainland, affecting the traffic routes of households in the area. This section has been declared an emergency by the People's Committee, however, it has not been reinforced yet.

During the field survey, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Chau Van Hoa and the working delegation assessed the severity of subsidence locations, landslides of dikes and dam surfaces in the commune.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Chau Van Hoa requested the locality to clearly identify the cause of the landslide, with points within the commune's capacity, they must be reinforced and repaired quickly and promptly to protect production and stabilize people's lives. In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Environment was assigned to coordinate with the locality to find temporary and long-term solutions, urgently carry out procedures to arrange capital from the natural disaster prevention fund to reinforce the works. At the same time, relevant functional agencies need to pay special attention to the work of preventing and responding to natural disasters during the current rainy and stormy season.
