After nearly 30 years, Hong Thap Tu Street (Long Khanh Ward) has invested in a drainage system.

(DN) - Hong Thap Tu Street (Long Khanh Ward) was invested in and built in 1996. However, due to the lack of a drainage system, for many years, this street has been frequently flooded every time it rains.

However, since the end of July, the Project Management Board of Area 2 (the investor) and the construction unit have started implementing the project to upgrade the traffic and drainage system of Hong Thap Tu Street. This is a project that people have been waiting for for nearly 30 years.

According to Mr. Vo Van Trung, former Party Secretary of Xuan Trung Ward (old), Hong Thap Tu Street is located in the center of Long Khanh Ward and was invested in construction since 1996. However, at that time, the road did not have a drainage system. Through the urbanization process, the surrounding roads were gradually upgraded and raised, causing Hong Thap Tu Street to become a "flood center" due to the inability to drain water.

“For decades, people here have lived in extreme hardship. Whenever it rains, there are floods and mosquitoes. Since the government invested in this road, people here have welcomed it and are very happy,” said Ms. Huynh Thi Ha, a resident on Hong Thap Tu Street.

The project to upgrade the road and drainage of Hong Thap Tu road is over 1km long, including the following items: D1000 diameter drainage culvert running along the entire route, connecting to the drainage system of Long Khanh urban area (old) and upgrading the existing asphalt road surface. The total cost of the project is over 13 billion VND.

The representative of the joint venture contractor said that according to the contract, the project will be implemented in 12 months. Despite the unfavorable weather conditions during the rainy season, the contractor is trying to speed up the progress, completing it in 6 months, 6 months ahead of the contract schedule.
