German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said on February 13 that she was very concerned after Israel announced it was planning a major military offensive in Rafah, a southern Gaza border city where more than a million displaced Palestinians are trapped.

Speaking at a joint press conference with his Palestinian counterpart in Berlin, Foreign Minister Baerbock said: “I am particularly concerned about the Israeli government ’s announcement of a large-scale ground military operation in Rafah… Of course, it is absolutely clear that there is a large network of the Hamas terrorist organization in Rafah.”
Germany's top diplomat asserts that Israel has the right to defend itself from terrorists.
Egyptian media reported on February 13 that CIA Director William Burns, Mossad Director David Barnea and Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met with Egyptian officials in Cairo to “discuss a ceasefire in Gaza.”
Al-Qahera News said the “four-way meeting” came amid mounting international pressure for a ceasefire between Israel and the Islamist Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip, where health officials say more than 28,000 people have been killed.
