Dozens of fans are believed to have died after a football match honoring Guinea's military junta leader Mamadi Doumbouya in the city of N'Zerekore last weekend, according to the Daily Mail .

Also according to Daily Mail, violence on the football field began to explode after a controversial decision by the referee, a crowd of overexcited fans flooded onto the field leading to a brawl and causing major casualties.

Videos posted on social media also showed chaotic scenes inside and outside the stadium in N'Zerekore. Bodies were strewn across the streets.

Protesters even vandalized and burned a police station near the stadium. Protests later turned violent in several cities in Guinea.

N'Zerekore is the second largest city in Guinea and is located in the southeast of the country. The city has a population of about 200,000 people.
