K-pop Rises: A Sign of Optimism

Người Lao ĐộngNgười Lao Động30/10/2023

Up to now, a series of Korean music groups and members have continuously come to Ho Chi Minh City, making fans satisfied.

Previously, Vietnam was not an option for famous K-pop groups like Blackpink. They chose to perform in the West, in Thailand, Singapore... and did not think they would reach Vietnamese audiences directly.

Occasionally, some Korean stars come to Da Nang to take photos, travel , or go to Hanoi to attend a concert and then go to Ho Chi Minh City for a combination of travel and work, not to perform a properly promoted concert. Some fans expressed regret, not understanding why Vietnam is not yet on the tour map of K-pop groups.

However, K-pop became vibrant and bustling when Blackpink performed in Hanoi for the first time. Although there were many mixed opinions about Blackpink's performance, the two shows were very successful with a large audience. Blackpink earned more than 333 billion VND in revenue and received countless compliments.

After Blackpink, a series of actors and singers from famous Korean music groups came to Ho Chi Minh City, such as: Chanyeol of EXO, Park Ji-hoon of Wanna One, CIX, LSS (Siwon, Leeteuk, Shindong) from Super Junior, actor Lee Jong-suk and singer BamBam of GOT7...

The activities of picking up idols at the airport have returned, along with a series of K-pop information being constantly updated on information sites and forums in Vietnam. Many fans believe that Blackpink has breathed new life into K-pop in Vietnam, rekindling the enthusiasm from fans that had long been waning.

According to insiders, this is an optimistic signal, helping to bring diverse and attractive "spiritual food" and the audience is the beneficiary. Vietnamese audiences have more choices and are comfortable searching for suitable products to enjoy, satisfying their entertainment needs.

The rise of K-pop also creates competition with the domestic music market, forcing Vietnamese singers to work harder to attract fans.
