Production of pineapple, tea, and citrus fruits has become key industries.
With millions of hectares of agricultural and forestry land, implementing the Central Government's policies and the agricultural development strategy of the North Central region, localities in the region have proactively developed agricultural development projects in the direction of promoting advantages in adapting to climate change. Thanks to that, the production value on the cultivated area of the region has continuously increased, contributing to creating a solid foundation for economic and social development.
In particular, for groups of advantageous crops such as pineapple, tea and citrus fruit trees, investment has been made to develop both in area and quality, becoming key industries that change people's lives and the face of rural areas in the region.

The forum was organized to orient production in a chain, from building raw material areas to production, preliminary processing, deep processing associated with the consumption of some advantageous products of the North Central region, including: Pineapple, tea, citrus fruit trees, to increase the value of agricultural products, promote branded products, regional specialties, promote the consumption of agricultural products in the domestic market and export; at the same time, respond to and implement the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
By 2024, the whole region will have more than 6,800 hectares of pineapple, concentrated in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh provinces, with a harvest output of nearly 133,000 tons. The area of citrus trees is about 11,500 hectares, with an annual output of 130,000 tons, concentrated in Ha Tinh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Tri and Hue. The area of tea trees is 10,300 hectares, with a harvest output of nearly 133,000 tons, concentrated in Nghe An, Thanh Hoa and Ha Tinh provinces. Localities in the region have constantly changed their thinking from production to agricultural economy, applied science and technology and built sustainable chains for groups of crops with high competitive advantages, with many outstanding effective models emerging.

However, to promote the competitive advantage of this group of key crops, there are still many bottlenecks and bottlenecks that need to be resolved. In addition to the objective challenges from the impact of climate change, fluctuations in the domestic and international markets have been posing huge challenges, requiring new thinking, especially for the group of crops with high competitive advantages in the region.
Suggesting many breakthrough solutions and new thinking
The forum recorded many enthusiastic opinions, revolving around key issues such as building standard raw material areas, promoting deep processing, applying digital transformation, perfecting the logistics system, improving trade promotion capacity and expanding export markets.

Delegates pointed out the shortcomings in the past as well as solutions that need to be focused on the following issues: Managing production scale to minimize the increase in area, rapid development along with technical and scientific solutions. In particular, the issue of developing processing industry and linking production and product consumption is a key factor to increase the value of agricultural products and increase competitiveness.
Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to supporting and encouraging cooperation with enterprises investing in processing with advanced technology, diversifying products, especially deeply processed products to expand the market and increase added value.

In his concluding remarks at the forum, Mr. Le Quoc Doanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Gardening Association, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, emphasized: The recommendations and proposals at the forum are an important basis for management agencies to continue researching and perfecting appropriate policies, while promoting effective connections between localities, businesses and people. Thereby, contributing to effectively exploiting the potential and strengths of the North Central region, enhancing the added value and competitiveness of agricultural and forestry products, towards a green, modern and sustainable agriculture.
With the available potential and advantages, the agricultural sector needs to have orientations to create important leaps for pineapple, tea, and citrus fruit trees. And the first solution for the North Central region is the story of connection, together changing the mindset from production to economy, towards improving quality, meeting market standards.
