- Before this match, Germany and Denmark had met four times in major international tournaments (World Cup and EURO), with two wins each. The only time the two teams met in the knockout stages was the EURO 1992 final, which Denmark won 2-0.

- Both teams playing at home in the last 16 round of 16 matches in the last 2 EUROs won: France beat Ireland at EURO 2016; England beat Germany at EURO 2020 at Wembley (the tournament took place in 11 different countries; only England played the round of 16 at home).
- Excluding penalties, the hosts of the EUROs have lost only two of their last 14 knockout matches (W7 D5), all of which were finals with the same score of 0-1: Portugal lost to Greece in 2004; France lost to Portugal in 2016.
- Denmark have won just three of their last 15 games at major international tournaments (EURO and World Cup), drawing seven and losing five. They have failed to win in their last seven games (drawing four and losing three); three of those were draws in the group stage of the tournament.
