On June 21, Tuoi Tre Online reported that in Ha Tien City, many cultural activities and events took place to commemorate the 290th anniversary of the death of the town's founder Mac Cuu (1735 - 2025).

Many tourists and locals come to Mac Cuu's tomb on Binh San mountain to burn incense and visit.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Nam - a tourist from Ben Tre - said that in the summer of 2025, she and her family traveled to Ha Tien. After visiting Thach Dong, Da Dung Mountain and Mui Nai beach, she went to Mac Cuu's mausoleum to burn incense and pray for favorable weather and for people to be warm, prosperous and happy.

"Coming right on the occasion of the anniversary of Mac Cuu's death, I feel it is very meaningful. Ha Tien is currently hosting many interesting cultural and culinary events," said Ms. Nam.

The leader of the People's Committee of Ha Tien City said that the traditional festival commemorating the 290th anniversary of the death of the town's founder Mac Cuu (1735 - 2025) will take place from June 20 to 22 (the 25th to 27th of the fifth lunar month).

In addition to the solemn ceremonies, the locality organizes many festival parts such as a space to introduce Ha Tien cuisine, an exhibition of Ha Tien art photos past and present, a Ha Tien folk cake contest, etc.

Mr. Mai Quoc Thang - Chairman of Ha Tien City People's Committee - informed that the festival is an opportunity to remember the merits of the founder Mac Cuu - who contributed to the development of Ha Tien land.

Through this event, the locality not only educates the young generation about the tradition of remembering the source of water when drinking but also promotes the image of Ha Tien tourism (a borderland imbued with the love of the sea and poetic soul) to domestic and foreign tourists.
