According to RT, after discovering unusual problems on HMS Glasgow, defense contractor BAE Systems re-evaluated the entire ship to determine which parts needed repair. BAE Systems also concluded that this was an act of deliberate sabotage.

“We discovered that a number of cables on HMS Glasgow had been cut earlier this week. They were deliberately damaged,” a BAE Systems spokesperson said on May 12.

BAE Systems also added that the completion of HMS Glasgow is currently temporarily suspended until the problems are resolved.

According to the British Defense Magazine, more than 60 cables on the frigate HMS Glasgow were damaged. Many sources believe that the problem of slow disbursement during the ship's construction process may have been the cause of the incident.

HMS Glasgow is the first of the Royal Navy's advanced Type 26 C-class frigates. London even describes the Type 26s as "special purpose warships" designed to support anti-submarine warfare, fleet air defence and other missions.

The Type 26 frigates have a displacement of about 5,400 tons and a hull length of 148m. The ship is designed to optimize stealth capabilities at sea. The Type 26 is designed using modular technology, allowing for a very high level of flexibility to ensure the performance of many different missions.

At the stern there is space to accommodate speedboats, unmanned surface vehicles or towed sonar systems. The stern hatch is similar to the layout on an amphibious assault ship. The stern has a flight deck that can accommodate medium and heavy helicopters (such as the CH-47 Chinook).

The frigate HMS Glasgow is expected to be delivered in December 2023 and enter service in 2027-2028. The ship is currently moored at a wharf in Scotstoun, a suburb of Glasgow, Scotland.

Earlier in February, the British navy also opened an investigation after media reports that the cooling system on the nuclear-powered submarine HMS Vanguard had been patched with glue. This investigation has yet to yield results.
