According to preliminary statistics from the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai province, more than 600 students who are children of Kon Tum province officials have registered to study in Quang Ngai after the merger.

Most parents with children in primary and secondary school have registered for schools in Nguyen Nghiem and Tran Hung Dao wards. These are wards in the center of Quang Ngai city. This leads to difficulties in arranging schools for students.

In recent times, the primary and secondary schools of Nguyen Nghiem and Tran Hung Dao wards have always been “hot” in enrollment. Parents in Quang Ngai city all want their children to study at these central schools. That leads to the situation of overloaded schools, with very high student numbers in each class.

Therefore, having more students enroll in these schools will lead to many difficulties for the local education sector.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thai, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai province, said that finding a place to study for Kon Tum students at the preschool or secondary school level is not difficult.

For primary and secondary schools, most Kon Tum officials register their children in schools in Nguyen Nghiem and Tran Hung Dao wards. This leads to difficulties in student allocation.

“We are accurately counting the number of students in Kon Tum province and will then work with localities to find suitable solutions in arranging schools for them,” said Mr. Thai.

Quang Ngai and Kon Tum provinces merged to form Quang Ngai province. The new Quang Ngai province has an area of over 14,800 square kilometers, a population of nearly 2.2 million people, and 96 administrative units.

The political and administrative center of Quang Ngai province after the merger is located in present Quang Ngai province.

After the merger, about 1,000 officials from Kon Tum province moved to work at the new Quang Ngai Provincial Administrative Center.
