The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 10am this morning (July 22), storm No. 3 entered the coastal mainland between Hung Yen and Ninh Binh with strong winds of level 8-9 (62-88km/h), gusting to level 11. The storm is currently moving inland in provinces and cities from Hai Phong to Thanh Hoa, then gradually weakening into a tropical depression.

In Hanoi , the wind is gradually increasing to level 5-6, gusting to level 7-8, accompanied by heavy rain lasting from now until the end of tomorrow. The central, western and southern areas of the city may have 100-180mm of rain; areas such as My Duc, Chuong My, Phu Xuyen, Ung Hoa... are at high risk of flooding, falling trees, and landslides.

To protect lives and reduce property damage, people in the capital should pay attention to reinforcing houses, roofs, billboards, and trimming tree branches near residential areas. Do not take shelter from the rain under trees, near power stations, or places with objects that can easily fall. Check the drainage system and manholes around the house to limit flooding during heavy rains. Move vehicles to higher ground, avoid low-lying areas. For basement houses, it is necessary to cover the exit carefully and have a backup pump to prevent flooding.

In addition, people need to prepare backup equipment such as flashlights, rechargeable batteries, drinking water, dry food, especially if they live in areas that are often isolated during storms. Absolutely do not move through deeply flooded areas, places with danger warning signs, overflowing ditches and streams. When there is an evacuation notice, it is necessary to comply immediately, without hesitation because the water can rise quickly. Continuously update weather reports and warnings from authorities, avoid fake news and false rumors that cause panic.

Faced with unusual weather developments, each citizen needs to take proactive precautions and coordinate with local authorities to ensure safety for themselves and the community.
