The Thai Then Kin Pang festival is one of the heritages recognized on this occasion.
Four cultural heritages of the province were honored, including: Then Kin Pang Festival of the Thai people; folk knowledge of healing of the Dao people in Phong Tho, Tam Duong, Sin Ho districts; traditional cuisine of the Thai ethnic group; Cap sac ceremony of the Dao Tuyen people. The heritages reflect the rich cultural identity and folk knowledge of the ethnic groups of Lai Chau.
In 2025, Lai Chau will have 8 heritages recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, bringing the total number of national intangible cultural heritages in the province to 13. Of which, 2 heritages have been recognized by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritages of humanity.
Traditional Thai cuisine is also recognized as a national intangible heritage.
The registration is not only an honor for the community of owners but also demonstrates the common responsibility in preserving, transmitting and promoting the value of heritage in modern life. This is not only about "preserving what is already there", but also about bringing heritage into contemporary life, associated with sustainable tourism development,educating the younger generation and creating livelihoods for the people.
Immediately after the announcement ceremony, delegates enjoyed excerpts from the Then Kin Pang ritual and experienced the typical Thai folk culinary space.
