On August 4, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province held a meeting to discuss solutions to speed up the construction of 5 multi-level boarding schools for ethnic minorities in the border area. This is a project of strategic significance, contributing to improving people's knowledge, sustainable poverty reduction and maintaining security in the border area.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Le Trong Yen - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee. Here, departments and branches focused on discussing the plan to build 5 primary and secondary boarding schools for ethnic minorities in 5 border communes: Quang Truc, Thuan Hanh, Tuy Duc, Thuan An and Dak Wil.

According to Ms. Le Thi Bich Lien - Director of Lam Dong Department of Education and Training, these are poor communes with limited educational infrastructure, and the proportion of ethnic minorities accounts for over 40%. Building boarding schools will help reduce the dropout rate, creating favorable learning conditions for children in border areas.
The schools are expected to have about 30 classrooms, accommodating more than 1,000 students, fully equipped with facilities, and implementing a special education program, linked to national defense and security education.
Through surveys, people in border communes hope to soon have boarding schools so that their children can study near home. However, land use planning is still facing problems due to overlap, requiring coordination and resolution from relevant agencies.

In the first phase, two schools that can start construction early are: Thuan Hanh Primary and Secondary Boarding School and Thuan An Commune. The Department of Agriculture and Environment will review the land fund, flexibly swap, and ensure construction sites. The Department of Construction will work with central ministries and branches to propose a school model imbued with national cultural identity.
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Trong Yen requested departments, branches and localities to consider this a special political task and implement it "quickly and boldly" according to the Prime Minister's direction. Units must develop detailed scenarios, clearly assign tasks, not wait, and ensure the project is completed before August 30, 2026 to welcome students in the 2026-2027 school year.
At the same time, Mr. Yen also emphasized that the 5 ethnic boarding schools in the border area will contribute to improving people's knowledge, reducing poverty, developing the socio-economy and strengthening border security. This is not only an educational project, but also a strategic step to develop a strong border area.
