In 1990, his parents gave him and his wife 5 hectares of land on their own. Thanks to his calculation and hard work, he now owns 10 times more land, making him one of the richest people in the village. Not only that, he is also a prestigious person among the Khmer people with many contributions to help the locality change and stabilize security and order. He is Thach Guol, 56 years old, in Hamlet 5, Vinh Tuong Commune.

Mr. Guol (right cover) regularly talks with and encourages people to strictly comply with legal regulations.

Born and raised in the purely agricultural land of Vinh Tuong, not accepting the fate of poverty, from a young age, Mr. Guol nurtured the desire to get rich. After getting married, in 1990, his parents gave him and his wife 5 hectares of rice fields. With their industrious and hard-working nature and the desire to get rich legitimately, he and his wife both farmed their own fields and rented more land to cultivate. Mr. Guol said that at that time, the land rental price was quite cheap, 1-2 taels of gold/acre/year; in addition to farming, he and his wife also raised pigs, chickens, ducks... During the period of 1990-1995, from 5 hectares of rice fields at home, rented land and livestock, each year his family earned 40-50 million VND. He and his wife saved up to rent and buy more land. Mother land gives birth to children, gradually, by 2015, this family had up to 5 hectares of rice fields, with a bumper crop every season...

Realizing that harvesting and selling rice right in the field is not as profitable as storing rice and waiting for a high price to sell, in 2015, Mr. Guol invested more than 500 million VND to build a drying kiln with quite modern machinery. Since then, the stored rice has been of very good quality, and selling it always brings higher profits. Mr. Guol has also actively bought more rice from many households in the village to dry, store and wait for a high price to sell. From 2016 to now, each year he stores 500-800 tons of rice; after selling, after deducting all expenses, he makes a profit of 600-900 million VND.

Not only enriching himself, Mr. Guol is also a prestigious person among the Khmer people with many contributions to help change the locality. A few months ago, a slope of the bridge across Nang Ben canal, Hamlet 5, Vinh Tuong commune, collapsed, affecting traffic. Without waiting for a call, he reported to the hamlet and spent nearly 5 million VND to buy sand, stone, cement with the locals to upgrade. Over the past 10 years, on average, each year Mr. Guol has contributed over 20 million VND to support patching and repairing bridges and roads, and giving books to disadvantaged students in and outside the hamlet.

Mr. Guol also actively works with the local government to propagate the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws to the people, especially the strict compliance with regulations on maintaining local security and order. His way of doing things is through friendly meetings, "slow and steady wins the race" to talk about policies, regulations, laws, and analyze the pros and cons so that people can grasp and implement them. When discovering that his nephew in the hamlet showed signs of being at risk of breaking the law, he and the group went to his house to discuss and explain...

Mr. Danh Duong Khanh, a resident of the hamlet, said: "In the past, when driving on rural roads, I rarely wore a helmet because I thought it was unnecessary. Mr. Guol explained and helped me understand that wearing a helmet not only protects me but also shows traffic culture, so now whenever I drive, whether long or short distances and anywhere, I wear a helmet."
