Amid tensions in the Middle East with tit-for-tat attacks on Israel's northern border and in the Gaza Strip, the international community is also worried about the risk that Israel will take action against Iran's nuclear facilities.

On October 11, Sputnik news agency quoted Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov as saying that, based on assessments by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), there were no signs that Iran was trying to turn its civilian nuclear program into a military one.
However, he warned: "Certainly, if plans or threats to attack the peaceful nuclear facilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran are carried out, it will be a very serious provocation."
Meanwhile, Reuters also reported that US officials said Washington believes Iran has not decided to build nuclear weapons despite Tehran's recent strategic failures, including Israel's killing of Hezbollah leaders and two unsuccessful attacks by the Islamic Republic on Israel.
Earlier this week, CIA Director William Burns said Washington had not seen any evidence that Iran's leadership had reversed its 2003 decision to suspend its nuclear weapons program.
This intelligence assessment could help explain US opposition to any Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear program in retaliation for Tehran's ballistic missile attack last week.
After the attack, US President Joe Biden affirmed that he did not support an Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear facilities, but did not explain why he came to that conclusion. The White House leader's opposition was met with harsh criticism from Republicans, including former President Donald Trump.
