Speaking after the 2024 Australian Open final, Jannik Sinner shared: "My family watched me compete in my home country. From a young age, I was able to indulge my passion for sport without pressure. I wish everyone had that luck and I have a lot to thank my family for.

I also want to congratulate Daniil Medvedev because he had a great tournament. He and I have met in many finals. I always try to improve my skills after each match. It was playing against Medvedev that helped me improve significantly."

Sinner lost the first two sets to Medvedev with a score of 3-6. However, in the next two sets, the Italian player won 6-4 to bring the match to a fifth set. In the deciding set, Jannik Sinner won 6-3 and won the 2024 Australian Open after nearly 4 hours of play.

This is the first time in his career that Jannik Sinner has won a Grand Slam tournament. The 22-year-old's Australian Open 2024 championship is even more meaningful when he defeated defending champion Djokovic in the semi-finals.

Jannik Sinner became the first Italian to win the Australian Open. He is also the second Italian to win a Grand Slam in the Open era, after Adriano Panatta (Roland Garros 1976).

The 2001-born tennis player, along with Dominic Thiem (US Open 2020), became the second tennis player in history to successfully come back from losing the first two sets in the final to win his first Grand Slam.
