“ US arms assistance to Ukraine demonstrates the challenges of maintaining, rebuilding, and increasing the production of Washington’s ammunition stockpiles,” the National Defense Industrial Strategy Implementation Plan states.
The plan adds that the Pentagon needs to increase its capacity to ensure it can produce enough of the new, more advanced munitions.

Meanwhile, The Economist reported that the US could no longer afford to provide military aid to Ukraine. “We have nothing left to give them. If we try to provide aid, we will have to take serious risks elsewhere,” The Economist quoted a US official as saying.
It is unclear whether Washington can provide or produce enough weapons for Ukraine. Earlier, The Wall Street Journal quoted US officials as saying that the country was short of some types of air defense missiles due to aid to Israel and Ukraine, raising questions about the Pentagon's ability to respond to conflicts in the Middle East, Europe and potential confrontations in the Asia- Pacific region.
Russia believes that supplying weapons to Ukraine hinders a solution that directly involves NATO countries in the military conflict and that they are “ playing with fire ”.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said any shipment of weapons to Ukraine would be a legitimate target for Moscow. He said the US and NATO were directly involved in the conflict, not only by supplying weapons but also by training personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy and other countries.
The Kremlin further stressed that the West's provision of weapons to Ukraine not only does not contribute to peace negotiations but also has a negative impact on the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
