VTC NewsVTC News02/11/2023

Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Hai Phong, and Da Nang all give students of all levels a one-day break for the 2024 New Year.

However, December 30 and 31, 2023 fall on Saturday and Sunday, so preschool and elementary school students will have a total of 3 days off.

High school and middle school students who still have classes on Saturday will have a 2-day New Year's holiday from December 31, 2023 to January 1, 2024.

For college and university students, holidays depend on the school's schedule and individual courses. In addition to the general schedule, the number of holidays for students also follows the special regulations of each university or college.

Article 112 of the 2019 Labor Code specifically regulates holidays and Tet holidays for employees working in Vietnam. Employees are entitled to take time off and receive full pay during holidays and Tet.

Specifically, New Year's Day is 1 day off (January 1st); Lunar New Year is 5 days off; Victory Day is 1 day off (April 30th); International Labor Day is 1 day off (May 1st).

National Day is 2 days off (September 2nd and 1 day before or after); Hung King's Commemoration Day is 1 day off (March 10th of the lunar calendar).

In 2024, New Year's Day falls on Monday, January 1, 2024. Thus, on New Year's Day 2024, employees will have 1 day off and receive full pay.

The law also stipulates that employees working on New Year's Day will be paid overtime at 300% of their normal working day's salary; working at night on New Year's Day will be paid an additional 390% of their normal working day's salary.
