TPO - On September 21, the Long An Department of Transport said that it is currently coordinating with the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Long An province to urgently handle the cracked and subsided points on Provincial Road 826C.

Long An province's functional sectors are urgently repairing cracks and subsidence on Provincial Road 826C to soon ensure traffic safety through the area.

According to Mr. Dang Hoang Tuan, Director of Long An Department of Transport, Provincial Road 826C is a vital route connecting Nha Be District (HCMC), Long Hau Industrial Park, Can Giuoc District with Long An International Port. Every day, this route has thousands of vehicles traveling. Therefore, the sectors and localities are determined to overcome the subsidence situation in October 2024, ensuring safety for travel here.

The above situation began to appear on July 17, the section of Provincial Road 826C passing through Phuoc Lai Commune, Can Giuoc District, Long An Province appeared many cracks, subsidence about 200 m long, of which nearly 140 m was deeply subsided. At the scene, many cracks were about 50 cm wide, some were about 1 m wide, more than 1 m deep, posing a risk to traffic safety.

To ensure traffic safety, the local authorities have posted danger warning signs and restricted traffic. Currently, only motorbikes and pedestrians are allowed to pass through here.

Along with that, the police and militia forces of Phuoc Lai commune are on duty at both ends of the subsidence area to guide vehicles away from the dangerous area.

According to the authorities, the cause of the subsidence and cracking of the road surface was due to weak ground. In addition, the landslide on the Can Giuoc river bank during the construction of the embankment caused the impact.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Truyen, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Long An province, said that the project to build a 1km-long embankment to prevent landslides on the Can Giuoc river bank with a total investment of 130 billion VND. The project started in early July and will be completed by the end of 2024.

Currently, the contractors have completed about 50% of the work volume, disbursing about 60 billion VND. In the face of subsidence and cracking on Provincial Road 826C, the construction unit had to reinforce the Larsen sheet pile layer to reduce the load from the road as well as reduce the load on the concrete embankment, ensuring safety and preventing subsidence during construction.
