Amorim is ready to eliminate players who are not in the club's plans. |
The atmosphere at Manchester United is heating up by the day. After a disastrous season - finishing 15th in the Premier League and losing in the Europa League final - coach Amorim is starting a revolution with tough moves.
According to British newspapers, four players Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia - dubbed the "Bomb Squad" - were removed from the personnel plan. They did not participate in the US tour and were forced to train separately at Carrington. When the team returns, if they have not left, this group will continue to be isolated, and will not even be allowed to train with the main team.
Amorim considered demoting them to the U21s, but was caught out by legal issues. His strategy, though, was clear: to cut off any chance of a return to the “toxic” dressing room that Luke Shaw admitted existed last season.
In the opposite direction, Man United welcomed Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, two players who had outstanding seasons in the Premier League. The next target is Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig), although there is competition from Newcastle.
As for the “Bom Squad”, the liquidation process is facing many obstacles. Garnacho rejected Besiktas, only wanting to stay in the Premier League. Malacia has not received a suitable offer after a season on loan at PSV. Antony only wants to go to Real Betis and rejected clubs from Saudi Arabia, even though that is Man United’s preferred choice. Sancho wants to reunite with Dortmund and is willing to take a pay cut to leave Old Trafford.
Amorim is proving he is not here to compromise. With the backing of the board, the Portuguese coach is determined to clean up the internal affairs, prioritizing discipline and unity. Although the removal of the “Bom Squad” is still problematic, the signal from Old Trafford is clear: no one is bigger than the collective.
