(Dan Tri) - The Red River flood in Hanoi has exceeded the level 2 warning level and is continuing to rise. The peach growing areas of Phu Thuong and Nhat Tan are flooded, submerging almost the entire peach garden.

People in Phu Thuong (Tay Ho) said that just this morning, the river water rose a meter, and the peach fields were submerged.

The sheds containing agricultural tools have almost disappeared in the murky water. The entire lush peach growing area is now submerged at the bottom of the Red River.

Some peach gardens located close to the foot of the dike can still see the tops, the rest are submerged under flood water.

Peach trees submerged in water will die if the water does not recede in the next 3-4 days, while slightly submerged trees may survive. Mr. Mai Minh Phung, a peach grower in Phu Thuong ward, sadly said.

According to Mr. Hoang Trung Thong, owner of a peach garden with 1,000 trees in Phu Thuong, this year's peach crop is considered a total loss.

At 1:00 a.m. on September 11, the water level reached 10.60 m, exceeding alarm level 2 by 0.1 m. At 7:00 a.m., the water level reached 10.70 m (exceeding alarm level 2 by 0.20 m). At 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., the Red River water level is forecast to stabilize at 10.75 m, exceeding alarm level 2 by 0.25 m.

Peach growers in Phu Thuong looked out at their peach gardens, hoping the flood waters would recede quickly.

Peach trees that are only submerged at the base may not die, but they will hardly become beautiful peach trees for the upcoming traditional Tet holiday.
