Man United pay the price for Amorim

The summer is more than halfway over, but Man United's restructuring plan is still nowhere in sight. They have not even managed to sell players.

The financial situation of the "Red Devils" is too obvious, after 3 consecutive years of wasting money under coach Erik Ten Hag. In return, there is only a long slide in the Premier League and a deadlock in the continental arena. Man United will not even be able to participate in any European tournaments next season.

This causes them to lose at least 100 million euros in revenue (including bonuses, business, ticket sales) compared to last season - participating in the Europa League. And a loss of more than 200 million euros in revenue compared to the season before, when Man United also participated in the Champions League.

Coach Ruben Amorim is not at fault for the decline of Man United's system. But at present, he is, because all of Man United's plans for the past 2 months have been in disarray as they have not been able to resolve the selling side.

At the end of the 2024-2025 season, British media reported that Man United had drawn up a list of players who would leave the team this summer. This list was up to 10 names. As a result, after 2 months, they have only been able to sign 3 people, including Jonny Evans retiring, Eriksen and Lindelof expiring their contracts. It was a completely natural departure. It did not show any effectiveness of the transfer team at Old Trafford.

So who hasn't left as planned? First is captain Bruno Fernandes - who decided to stay at Man United instead of going to Al Hilal to "retire". This is a rather brave decision by the Portuguese midfielder, welcomed by most "red devil" fans. But the rest are different. Man United publicly put Sancho, Rashford, Garnacho, Antony and Malacia up for sale. As for Onana, Casemiro are on the "waiting for review" list.

In the case of the star quartet Sancho, Rashford, Garnacho and Antony, this is the future of the team because they are still very valuable in the transfer market (around 30 - 50 million euros each). Man United is expected to earn 150 - 200 million euros for the sale of these 4 stars. But so far, they have not sold anyone.

Why? Because of Amorim's arrogance. Coach Amorim made a big mistake when he publicly ended the future of the four players mentioned above. He even spoke harshly, such as declaring "You should pray to find a new club" to Garnacho.

As a result, after 2 months, Man United still hasn't found a way to sell these 4 players, or more precisely, sell them at the price they want. The whole world knows that Man United wants to get rid of people. Therefore, it is obvious that they are being forced to pay a higher price in the transfer market.

Football management is a complex business. And Amorim's immaturity is costing Man United.
