Man Utd easily beat Newcastle 2-0 in the League Cup final last season thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford and Casemiro. But that scenario did not repeat itself in this rematch. Despite Newcastle using a squad with many substitutes, the "Red Devils" continued to play disjointedly as they lost 0-3 to Man City in the Premier League last weekend and were continuously scored against by Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall and Joe Willock.

Ten Hag left some key players like Rashford, Bruno Fernandes or Rasmus Hojlund on the bench. But in terms of force balance, it can be said that Man Utd is better when still having Casemiro, Andre Onana, Mason Mount, Antony or Harry Maguire on the field. Meanwhile, coach Eddie Howe changed the entire Newcastle defense compared to the 2-2 draw with Wolves, and also left out Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes.
