An American Airlines passenger plane made an emergency landing and suffered an engine fire in the US city of Denver.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced that American Airlines Flight 1006, a Boeing 737-800, made an emergency landing at Denver International Airport (Colorado state) shortly after takeoff on March 13 due to engine failure, according to Reuters.
The plane carrying 172 passengers and 6 crew members was en route from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Dallas, Texas, when the crew detected vibrations in the engine.

According to ABC News, the plane diverted 20 minutes after takeoff and was in the air for about an hour before landing.
The airline announced that after landing safely and moving to the airport parking lot, Flight 1006 experienced engine-related problems. The incident occurred at around 5:15 p.m. local time.

Multiple videos filmed and posted on social media show passengers standing on the plane's wings and sliding down the emergency slide while the plane's engines billowed smoke.
All passengers and crew were evacuated from the aircraft and taken to the terminal. Some people suffered minor injuries during the evacuation. "We thank the flight crew, the Denver team and first responders for their swift and decisive actions, with the safety of all on board and on the ground as their priority," the airline said.
The FAA said it would investigate the incident while Boeing declined to comment.
This is the latest case involving aviation safety incidents in the US in recent times. On January 29, an American Airlines passenger plane collided mid-air with a military helicopter, killing 67 people.
