Miss International 2024 Thanh Thuy builds a water well for the "Vietnamese Village" in Angola

Miss International 2024 Huynh Thi Thanh Thuy recently had a business trip to the Republic of Angola. The trip is part of a series of international activities after the coronation.

In particular, the journey not only has the meaning of cultural exchange but also contributes to strengthening diplomatic relations between Vietnam and this African country. In the capital Luanda, Thanh Thuy had a meeting and worked with the Angolan Foreign Minister, marking one of the typical foreign affairs activities of Miss International 2024.

Miss Thanh Thuy also visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Angola, laid flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh and shared about the journey of spreading the values of the Miss International contest, emphasizing its role as a cultural bridge and promoting sustainable development.

“I am honored to visit Angola and deeply feel the friendliness and hospitality of the local people. I believe that beauty is not only a title but also a responsibility to connect cultural values, history and people around the world . I hope the best things from Vietnam will also spread here,” Miss Thanh Thuy shared.

During the trip, Thanh Thuy also started construction of a clean water well at the “Vietnam Village” – home to 17 families and 30 Angolan children. This is the first expansion of the “Clean Water” community project that she has implemented in many provinces in the Mekong Delta, aiming at the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

During the field visit to the village, Thanh Thuy and the Miss International organization were warmly welcomed by the locals with artistic performances and agricultural gifts grown by the locals themselves, showing deep affection.

Witnessing the difficult and deprived life, especially the lack of clean water when women in the village have to walk long distances to fetch water from artificial streams, Miss Thanh Thuy and other benefactors decided to start building a well during this visit.

The well is expected to significantly improve living conditions, providing a safe and sustainable water source for local people. In addition, Thanh Thuy also presented practical gifts to each household in the village, demonstrating the spirit of sharing and spreading love.

She also brought along Vietnamese native vegetable and fruit seeds to plant with the Angolans, hoping for a greener, more connected and stronger future between the two cultures.

“The moment the whole village came together to make Vietnamese sweet potato cakes, sing, and chat… Thuy was truly moved and felt that there was no longer any distance between the two continents or two skin colors. All that remained was connection through sincere hearts and kindness,” Thanh Thuy shared.
