A 70cm high, 50m2 wide mound in Kien Giang is littered with boulders, revealing countless ancient Oc Eo artifacts.

Recently, the Center for Archaeology - Southern Institute of Social Sciences coordinated with Kien Giang Provincial Museum to survey scientific relics of Oc Eo culture at Buu Lam Son Tu, Da Noi A hamlet, Thanh Dong commune, Tan Hiep district, Kien Giang province.

Leading the survey team were Mr. Nguyen Quoc Manh - Deputy Director of the Center for Archaeology (Southern Institute of Social Sciences); Mr. Nguyen Nhut Phuong - specialist of the Center for Archaeology; Kien Giang Provincial Museum had Ms. Nguyen Thi Bach Hue - Director of the Museum; Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh - Deputy Director of the Museum; Ms. Bui Thi Mai Phuong and Ms. Le Thi Kim Tuyen - Heritage Officer of Kien Giang Provincial Museum.

Accompanying the delegation were Mr. Bui Quoc Du - Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Tan Hiep district; Ms. Truong Thi Cam Nhung - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Dong commune, representative of the leaders of Da Noi A hamlet. Representative of Buu Lam Son Tu had Head of the Department Mr. Huynh Phuoc Tai attending with the delegation.

Oc Eo is a famous archaeological culture in the South, closely related to the history of formation and development of this land.

Archaeological sites and ancient artifacts found in the Southern Delta region include the Oc Eo site in Da Noi A hamlet, Thanh Dong commune, Tan Hiep district. In 1996, the Oc Eo site was initially included in the inventory list for relic protection.

The archaeological site of Oc Eo culture located in Buu Lam Son Tu area and the surrounding rice fields in Da Noi A hamlet, Thanh Dong commune is one of 12 Oc Eo sites in Kien Giang province.

Currently, in the Buu Lam Son Tu area, there is a mound of earth 70cm higher than the field level, about 50m2 wide , with many rocks about 50-80cm in size that have been carved and arranged around the mound.

Some ancient artifacts and relics still preserved at Buu Lam Son Tu are jewelry made of stone, agate, metal earrings, coins, metal Buddha statues, glass seals with the image of gods...

In addition, ancient artifacts from the Oc Eo site have been found and are on display at the Kien Giang Provincial Museum.

Through a field survey of the scientific relics of Oc Eo culture in Da Noi A hamlet, the delegation collected documents to develop a project to research archaeological sites to build a system of archaeological heritage tourism destinations in Kien Giang province.

The delegation took souvenir photos at Buu Lam Son Tu where many Oc Eo relics were discovered, Da Noi hamlet, Thanh Dong commune, Tan Hiep district, Kien Giang province.
