While diplomats attended the General Assembly and other side events at the United Nations headquarters in New York from September 22-30, a select group of journalists went into the "brain" area responsible for coordinating security operations for these events.

CNN reported that the most impressive thing when entering the two large rooms in the area is a giant wall of countless screens in each room.

Screens connected to specific cameras are installed throughout the United Nations headquarters, from the entrance, garage, main conference room, hallways and hidden cameras.

UN officials revealed that there are a total of 1,400 cameras in operation at all times.

In addition to monitoring the screens, the security team also conducts on-site checks at various locations to avoid security breaches.

If a visitor enters a restricted area and their pass is not authorized to enter, an alarm immediately sounds inside the security control rooms: "Access denied! Access denied! Access denied!".

The effort to provide security for the events required coordination between the United Nations, the New York Police Department, the U.S. Secret Service and diplomatic security, and they were required to protect a total of more than 22,000 delegates attending the weeks leading up to the 79th U.N. General Assembly.

The New York Police Department and diplomatic security were tasked with clearing the way for motorcades from hotels across Manhattan to the United Nations headquarters and back.

In addition, this year, world leaders have activities spread across New York City, from ringing the bell at the New York Stock Exchange to diverse meetings.

UN security says their priority is to provide a safe environment for delegates. And so far everything is fine.
